Digital Accessibility Statement

Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH | Lange Nacht der Museen strives to make its web presence barrier-free. The digital accessibility declaration is required by the Berlin Accessible Information and Communication Technology Act (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility result from the BITV 2.0. This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website langenachtdermuseen.berlin

When was the accessibility statement created?

This declaration was created on 11.06.2024 and last revised on 18.12.2024. The statements in this declaration were last reviewed on 18.12.2024. Compliance with the requirements is currently being checked by an external auditor.

How accessible is the website?

The website is largely compatible with the requirements of BITV 2.0. We are endeavouring to continuously reduce remaining barriers and to eliminate them as far as possible.

Which parts of the website are not accessible?

1. Sections that are not accessible:

1.1 Missing or incorrect labeling of headings, lists, quotations and foreign languages

Description: Occasionally, the hierarchical order of headings is not adhered to on various subpages, and in some cases quotations are not correctly marked as such in the source text. In individual cases, foreign-language words are not marked as such.

Accessible alternatives: We are not currently aware of any accessible alternatives. We are constantly striving for editorial improvement.

1.2 Missing media alternatives for videos

Description: Short videos are occasionally included on various subpages (e.g. About us) for which there is no media alternative (text, audio).

Accessible alternatives: The videos are animated images with music. The videos do not contain any information that is not also provided on the website in text form. We are constantly striving for editorial improvement.

1.3 PDF documents are not accessible

Description: Provided PDF documents that are in active use and do not have an archive character are not implemented according to the PDF/UA standard and are not accessible.

Accessible alternatives: For the time being, please contact us at [email protected] if you require press releases in the corresponding PDF standard. We are also available by telephone on +49 (0)30 24749-700.

2. Disproportionate burden

2.1 Alternative texts for graphics and object (external content)

Description: A large proportion of the non-linked graphics and images obtained from external sources are not provided with alternative texts. This primarily concerns graphics and images of exhibitions and events of the museums.

Explanation of why there is disproportionate burden: The Long Night of Museums obtains external data on exhibitions and events from external sources: Data is automatically imported via the interface of the Kulturprojekte database (www.datenhub.kulturprojekte.berlin), which is entered independently by the editors of the 70 or so participating museums. It is not feasible for the editors of the Long Night of Museums to carry out editorial checks on these very large amounts of data, which would place a disproportionate burden on them. The editors of the Long Night of Museums continue to advise the participating institutions of the need to provide alternative texts for graphics and objects.

3. No use case

This content does not fall within the scope of the Barrierefreien IKT Gesetzes Berlin. Exceptions that do not have to be accessible (due to the BIKTG Bln, § 4 paragraph 4)

3.1 Use of online and map services

Description: Map services (Open Street Map) are implemented on the website. These are not fully usable for screen readers, voice input and keyboard operation. The map service is integrated on the program page and on the detail pages of the museums, events and routes. In this case, the information is supplemented by a map.

Accessible alternative: Information on how to get to or visit an event or museum is always provided as text. This means that the essential information for navigation purposes is presented in an accessible way.

3.2 Content from third parties that is neither financed nor developed by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH nor subject to its control.

Description: The online store is provided via the software of a third-party provider. The third-party providers in question are not obliged to us with regard to the accessibility of their websites. Kulturprojekte Berlin is therefore unable to make structural improvements to the websites.

Accessible alternative: At this point it should be noted that Kulturprojekte Berlin is constantly working and endeavoring to make the offerings of third-party providers more accessible. A significant improvement is expected when the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz comes into force in June 2025. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, order or purchase requests. You can reach us by email at [email protected] and by phone on +49 (0)30 24749-700.
