The Bode-Museum, which was completed in 1904, is moored like a ship between the Spree and the Kupfergraben. Under one roof, it brings together the Skulpturensammlung (one of the world’s largest collections of ancient European sculptures with pieces from the Middle Ages to the 18th century), the Museum für Byzantinische Kunst (Museum of Byzantine Art) and the Münzkabinett (Numismatic Collection). Among the most famous exhibits are marble portrait busts from the Italian Renaissance, the expressive biblical figures carved from lime wood by Tilman Riemenschneider and Antonio Canova’s life-sized “Dancer”.
