"Coming Out" by Heiner Carow
Waiting times on site
We are showing the GDR's first queer film – "Coming Out” by Heiner Carow. The romantic film is set in East Berlin and is about a young teacher coming to terms with his sexual identity. While homosexuality was still a criminal offence in the Federal Republic of Germany until 1994, it had been officially unpunishable in the GDR since 1968.
Nevertheless, it was often kept secret.
The permanent exhibition is barrier-free, only the Trabi level can only be reached via stairs because it is located on the Spree promenade.
