# Mack the Knife and the Bodyguard of Al Capone

- 29.08.2026 18:00 – 01:00

Waiting times on site

© Stiftung Jüdisches Museum Berlin

- Duration approx. 7,0 hours
- In German, English
- Meeting point: Glass Courtyard
- There are a bar and snacks on offer in the Glass Courtyard.

In 1932, at the age of 24, Hugo Baruch wrote his fictional autobiography as Al Capone’s bodyguard and began calling himself Jack Bilbo. In short guided tours of his painting "The Red Dress”, we pay tribute to the writer, artist, bar owner, and captain. In the Mack the Knife Lounge we will show two "Threepenny Operas”—Wolfgang Staudte’s 1963 version (featuring Jack Bilbo) and G.W. Pabst’s from 1931.

### Accessibility

The entire exhibition space is accessible to wheelchair users. All public areas have elevator access. Parts of the grounds of the Jewish Museum Berlin have historical paving stones, which affects access to the group entrance and the museum garden. The space between the steles in the Garden of Exile is unfortunately slightly too narrow for a wheelchair.

Detailed information on barrier-free access can be found here: [Further information](https://www.jmberlin.de/en/frequently-asked-questions#topic-182)
